Thunderstorms to persist in Metro, parts of Luzon—Pagasa

The state weather bureau expects thunderstorms and isolated rainshowers to persist, especially in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon today (Tuesday).
In its 24-hour public weather forecast issued at 5 p.m. on (Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the ridge of a high pressure area will continue to affect the eastern section of Luzon and of the Visayas.
Pagasa weather forecaster Robb Gile said as of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the state weather bureau had already hoisted a thunderstorm advisory over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, some parts of Rizal, Tarlac, Quezon, Batangas and Bulacan, as these areas have been experiencing thunderstorms lasting for up to two hours.
“Expect thunderstorms to persist despite the ridge of high pressure area,” especially in the afternoon and evening, said Gile, in Filipino, in a report as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Gile also warned of thunderstorms in Pampanga, Zambales, Nueva Ecija and parts of Bataan, Tarlac and Calabarzon.
“Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country,” Pagasa said.
Moderate to occasionally strong winds coming from the southwest to south will also prevail over the western section of Luzon, triggering moderate to occasionally rough coastal waters along the area.
