3 children die in Benguet road mishap

BUGUIAS, Benguet — Three children died while 13 others were injured after an Isuzu Ford Fiera fell 10-meters down a mountain side garden in Sitio (sub-village) Naduguan, Baculungan Sur village on Saturday afternoon (May 12).

Brothers Leo Adel Tullabang, 9, and Jay-ar Adel Tullabang, 10, and Fred Elmer Quinio Bagni, 14, were declared dead on arrival at the Lutheran Hospital in Abatan village.

The Tullabangs are residents of Bolinao village in Tabuk City, Kalinga province while Bagni is from Pozorrubio town in Pangasinan province.

The children were the sons of farm workers who were employed to grow vegetables on gardens carved at the side of the mountain roads here.

The driver, 56 year old Menargon Wakit Quintos, said he lost control of his brakes.

The other victims were rushed to Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital. Their identities have not been released at press time.

The fatalities and the injured were all riding on the vehicle’s roof. It was packed with vegetables to be delivered to the vegetable trading post in the capital La Trinidad town.
