5 hurt in vehicular accident in Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Quezon –At least five persons were hurt in a vehicular accident along the Maharlika Highway in Atimonan town in Quezon province on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

Reports said a Metro Manila-bound Toyota Hi-Ace van, driven by Jesus Presto, hit a stalled truck in Barangay Lagyo at 9:30 p.m.

Presto said he tried to avoid the truck, which had a flat tire, but he lost control of the van and smashed into the stalled vehicle’s rear.  Five van passengers – Tiffany Narugo, 22; Jenny Rose Reyes, 23; Mark Ian La Guisma, 25; Louise Ann Olazo, 24; and Lavern Aigos, 25 – were taken to the San Diego de Alcala hospital in Gumaca town, police said.  SFM/rga
