Despite her love for her child, Maribel Bernardino has doubts about having her daughter, Korina Lacap, undergo dialysis twice a week for the rest of her life.

“The thought of hemodialysis twice a week, eight times a month bothers me. But doctors told me that there would be no lifetime to think about without treatment,” Maribel said.

Korina, 24, was diagnosed at Philippine General Hospital in January to be suffering from chronic kidney disease secondary to chronic glomerulonephritis after bruises appeared on her thighs.

From three times a week, Korina now undergoes dialysis twice weekly at P650 per session. She spends P11,200 a month for treatment (P5,200 for eight dialysis sessions and P6,000 for laboratory tests).

“I have no more relatives to borrow from since I have yet to pay them. Please help my daughter,” Maribel said.

She can be reached at 0919-8733256. Those who want to donate money for Korina’s treatment may deposit in her mother’s Landbank account (Maribel R. Bernardino #3286 0832 68).
