DID YOU KNOW: Diosdado Macapagal death anniversary

Today, April 21, is the 20th death anniversary of former President Diosdado Macapagal. Born on Sept. 28, 1910, he was elected president on Nov. 14, 1961, gaining 55 percent of the electorate. He died at the age of 86 in Makati City and was buried at Libingan ng mga Bayani. During the presidency of his daughter, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, a 5.1-kilometer, eight-lane road at the Manila Bay reclamation area running parallel to Roxas Boulevard was named in his honor. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
