Police to file murder charges vs suspect in Pempengco slay

MANILA, Philippines—The Laguna police office is set to file charges Thursday against the principal suspect in the murder of Ricky Pempengco, the father of international singing sensation Charice Pempengco, police said.

Superintendent Kirby Kraft, chief of the Laguna police, said all needed documents for the filing of murder charges at the San Pedro prosecutors’ office against Angel Capili Jr. were in place, except for the death certificate.

Although Capilli has allegedly contacted his wife saying he would surrender, Kraft said that the suspect remained at large and the manhunt operations of Task Force Pempengco were on going.

A reward of P200,00 awaits the person who can provide information on Capilli’s whereabouts.

Pempengco was allegedly stabbed to death three times by Capilli on Monday while he was buying cigarette from a convenience store in San Pedro, Laguna.
