After serving for 16 years, the separation pay Joseph Agbuya recently received from an electronics company in Carmona, Cavite, just ended up with his debtors.

The 39-year-old Joseph was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease secondary to hypertensive nephropathy in 2014.

“It makes me sad that the separation pay he received after working for 16 years lasted for only two days because of debt payments,” his wife, Lorilee, said.

Joseph has been undergoing dialysis twice a week at Asia Medic Family Hospital and Medical Center in Dasmariñas City. Each session costs P3,500, an amount the family is having difficulty shouldering.

Lorilee has stopped working to attend to her husband and 1-year-old baby. Joseph, on the other hand, had to leave his employer because of his poor health and frequent bouts of hypertension.

When he talked to the Inquirer on the phone through his wife, Joseph said he was having difficulty breathing because he drank more than 1 liter of fluid a day doctors had set for him.

Lorilee said it was hard for her husband to stop himself at times because he always felt thirsty.

She appealed to readers for help, saying they can call her at 0908-1230939. For donations, they can deposit any amount in her husband’s BDO account (Account name: Joseph Agbuya, #4860-225-115).
