DID YOU KNOW: Gen. Edilberto Evangelista
Today, Feb. 24, is the 155th birth anniversary of Gen. Edilberto Evangelista. Born in 1862 in Sta. Cruz, Manila, Evangelista, an engineer by profession, became a general in the war against Spanish colonial rule, where he led the construction of trenches and other defenses. Evangelista died in the Battle of Zapote Bridge on Feb. 17, 1897. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
