PNP-AKG files raps vs NBI execs over Jee Ick-joo’s death

The Philippine National Police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) has filed before the Department of Justice (DOJ) criminal complaints against officials of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) implicated in the killing of South Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo.

Named as additional respondent in the letter complaint by the PNP-AKG were former NBI Deputy Director Jose Yap, National Capital Region (NCR) Director Ricardo Diaz and head of the Task Force Against Illegal Drugs Roel Bolivar.

Yap, Diaz and Bolivar have been relieved from their respective positions after they were tagged by Superintendent Rafael Dumlao III in the abduction and killing of Jee.

The PNP-AKG also included as respondent Jerry Omlang, the NBI striker; Gerardo Santiago, owner of Gream Funeral Parlor; Epephay Gotera, Teodolito Macato Tarepe, Kevin Enriquez, Robert John tobias and Bernardo Maraya, employees of Gream Funeral Parlor.

Aside from kidnapping for ransom, serious illegal detention with homicide, the PNP-AKG also filed robbery, carnapping, falsification of public document and obstruction of justice.

The 11-page complaint explained that there was robbery committed because of the four ATM withdrawals in the amount of P20,000 cash each using Jee’s BPI MasterCard at BPI Bank Greenhills in San Juan City on Oct. 18, 2016.

The complaint also said there were a violation of carnapping of one Ford Explorer with plate no. ABT-1915 owned by the victim and falsification of public document over the victim’s death certificate on Oct. 19, 2016 in Caloocan City.

The DOJ panel set the next hearing on March 2 at 2 p.m. where the respondents are set to file their respective counter-affidavits in response to the accusations against them.

A complaint for complex crime of kidnapping for ransom with homicide has been filed before the Pampanga court against SP03 Ricky Sta. Isabel, SPO4 Roy Villegas and Ramon Yalung. The court, however, allowed a reinvestigation and gave the DOJ panel up to April 19. RAM
