Baguio temperature drops to record low

Baguio City turned a bit colder on Wednesday, setting a new record for the lowest temperature for 2017.

The mercury dropped to 7.3 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m., the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Cordillera said on its Facebook page.

On Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m. was recorded in Baguio. Temperatures in the city have been lower than 10 degrees Celsius in the past few days.

Other areas in Benguet usually have colder temperatures.

The OCD advised the residents and tourists in Baguio City to dress warmly and wear warm and waterproof footwear.

“Dress in layers, with a wind resistant outer layer. When it is cold, wear a hat, mittens. Keep your face warm with a scarf, neck tube or facemask,” it said.

“When it is very cold, or when the wind chill is significant, cover as much exposed skin as possible. Your body’s extremities, such as the ears, nose, fingers and toes lose heat the fastest,” it added.
