Pasig village councilor shot dead in ambush

MANILA — A barangay councilor in Pasig City was ambushed a few meters away from a public hospital while he was on his way home on Monday evening.

Initial reports from the Pasig City police said Barangay Sta. Lucia councilor Randy Ilagan died around 7 p.m. after still unidentified gunmen onboard two motorcycles shot him inside his white Mitsubishi vehicle around 50 meters away from the Pasig City General Hospital at F. Legaspi extension in Barangay Maybunga.

Ilagan was driving in the direction of the Floodway when the two armed men intercepted and shot him, the police said.

The Pasig City emergency unit responded and declared Ilagan dead on the spot. The gunmen, meanwhile, fled immediately.

As of posting time, Ilagan’ remains were at the Quiogue Funeral.
