Class suspensions for Monday, Jan. 9

Some local government units have announced the suspension of classes in their respective areas on Monday, Jan. 9, due to bad weather caused by tropical depression “Auring.”

Classes in the following areas are suspended:

• Cebu province – public schools (elementary and high school)
• City of Tandag, Surigao del Sur – all levels
• Municipalities of Bayabas and Cagwait, Surigao del Sur – all levels
• Lapu-Lapu City – preschool

Classes and government work in the City of Manila have also been suspended due to the Black Nazarene procession, which is expected to draw at least 15 million people this year.

Auring is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Sur between Sunday evening and early Monday morning.
