1 killed, 3 nabbed in Laguna drug buy-bust
SAN PEDRO CITY—An illegal drug buy-bust operation led to a shootout between the police and five drug suspects, of whom one was killed and three were arrested, in Calamba City in Laguna province.
A report from the Laguna police headquarters on Saturday said the operation targeted a group of suspected drug pushers in Barangay (village) Real around 2 p.m. Friday. But during the operation, the suspects opened fire engaging the undercover policemen.
One of the suspects Antonio Magallanes Santiago was killed in the scene.
The police meanwhile arrested Santiago’s cohorts identified only in the report by their aliases as Jay-r, Roger and Eugene. The fifth suspect Larry Amlon was able to escape on foot towards a grassy area.
The police recovered a shotgun and a .45 caliber gun and a still undetermined amount of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu.” RAM
