Aquino might paint himself into a corner

/ 12:11 AM November 08, 2016

The policemen who killed Mayor Rolando Espinosa of Albuera, Leyte, should be punished for their clumsiness, not for their zeal in ridding Eastern Visayas of a pestilence.

How many people in Eastern Visayas did Espinosa and his son, Kerwin, destroy because of drugs?

How many families suffered the unspeakable pain of losing a member who became a drug addict due to Espinosa and his son?

Only the people in Albuera town who benefited from the largesse of the Espinosas and government officials who were on their payroll mourn his passing.

FEATURED STORIES

They bewail the cutting of the pipeline with Rolando’s death and his son Kerwin behind bars in Abu Dhabi.

Government officials as well as media men who were on the payroll of the Espinosas should be next in the crosshairs of Digong Duterte’s telescopic sights.

Yes, the cops who carried out the order to execute Espinosa were probably “novatos” (newbies) to the game.

They could have thought of a scenario that would be more believable to the public.

But they were too lazy to do so.

Imagine, serving a search warrant on Espinosa who was inside the Leyte provincial jail!

There was no need for a search warrant as a jail cell is not a domicile.

They should be punished for their stupidity, not for killing Espinosa who
mercilessly went after people who got in the way of his and his son’s illicit drug trade.

Even Sen. Panfilo Lacson, a former chief of the Philippine National Police, was appalled at the maladroit handling of Espinosa’s execution and has called for a Senate probe.

I covered the young 1st Lieutenant Lacson and his comrades—Lt. Col. Rolly Abadilla and Capt. Rey Berroya—at the defunct Metrocom Intelligence and Security Group as a reporter of the Times Journal and Manila Bulletin in the 1970s.

Lacson was allegedly behind the EJK (extrajudicial killing) of very notorious criminals in those days.

Ping, please go easy on the policemen in the EJK of Mayor Espinosa because they’re not as intelligent as you, Berroya and Abadilla.

A news report said that former President Noynoy was interested in the outcome of the investigation into the EJK of Mayor Espinosa.

Tumahimik ka nga diyan, Noynoy!

You should shut up and just sit in a corner.

If you had gone after the drug lords, pushers and dealers with hammer and tongs, the drug problem wouldn’t have reached crisis proportions requiring a drastic solution by the Duterte administration.

If Noynoy starts railing against President Digong’s war on drugs, the former president might paint himself into a corner.

If I know Mano Digong, he might dig up skeletons in the closet during the Noynoy administration.

Some top brass in Noynoy’s Cabinet, aside from former Justice Secretary and now Sen. Leila de Lima, might get dragged into the mess.
