Raps filed vs suspect

By

Police filed charges against the suspect who allegedly  stole a  woman’s bag containing P500,000 worth of jewelry and cash during a beauty pageant held in the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) early this month.

Insp. Ramil Morpos, deputy chief of Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office, told Cebu Daily News the Mandaue City Prosecutors’ Office filed theft charges against Renie Pitogo Parba, 28, last Friday.

Police said the complaint was based on the accounts of three witnesses who saw the suspect carrying the bag of Carmelita Seno,  the chairperson of the beauty and search committee of the Mandaue City Queen, Prince and Princess pageant, as he left CICC.

The footage of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) also showed Parba, who was wearing a  Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)  green collared T-shirt, bringing the bag with him as he exited the building.

Seno, 65, claimed the bag contained a men’s gold karat ring worth P300,000; P15,000 cash; one gold necklace with pendant worth P150,000; and three cell phones worth P30,000. Also in the bag were a lady’s diamond-encrusted ring worth P30,000 and two pairs of earrings worth P2,000.
