The Burgos Institute, a college school exclusive for boys, is founded in 1898 in Malolos, Bulacan, by Enrique Mendiola.

Oct. 25

The Academia Militar, the first military training school in the Philippines, is established in 1898. The school existed for less than a year because hostilities between the Americans and Filipino erupted.

Oct. 29

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples is created in 1997 as the primary government agency responsible for the promotion and protection of the rights of indigenous peoples.

The position of vice governor for each province in the Philippines is created in 1901 by the president of the United States under the Spooner Amendment.
