Cop dies in Ecija ambush

CABANATUAN CITY – A city policeman was ambushed and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen as he drove a motorcycle along the circumferential road here on Monday night (Oct. 17).

PO1 Jayson Damian, 28, resident of Barangay (village) Bakod Bayan, was attacked at 11:30 p.m. in the vicinity of San Juan village.

The police declined to reveal details about the slain policeman’s background nor his current assignment.

But Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief, said forensic investigators recovered 13 sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from Damian’s motorcycle. They also found 14 spent shells fired from a handgun at the crime scene. CDG
