Toddler in critical condition after falling from escalator

GEORGE TOWN, Malaysia – A toddler was seriously injured when she fell from an escalator at a shopping complex in Bukit Jambul.
The incident occurred at 6:42 p.m. on Sunday when the family was shopping at the mall.

From closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, it appears that the girl was sitting on her father’s shoulders as the family got onto the escalator.

Less than a minute later, the toddler was seen falling to the ground floor.
It was learned that the child is in critical condition and receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Penang Hospital./rga
