Village chief, town councilor nabbed in Capiz drug bust

ILOILO CITY— A barangay (village) chairman, also an ex-officio municipal councilor, were arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a drug sting operation in Ivisan town, Capiz.

Elmor Boluso, 54, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Ivisan town, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon near his house in Barangay Poblacion Sur after he handed a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) to a PDEA agent who posed as a buyer.

Boluso faces a charge for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

President Duterte earlier announced that the next list of drug protectors and pushers he would release would include barangay officials, among others.  SFM
