Jaybee Sebastian gives own version on Bilibid riot

Convict Jaybee Sebastian on Monday shared his version of the riot that ensued inside the New Bilibid Prison’s (NBP) Building 14 last month, which led to the death of a high-profile inmate and wounded several others.
In his testimony during the House probe on drug proliferation in the national penitentiary, Sebastian said inmate Clarence Dongail, a former police chief inspector, wanted to silence him and other inmates for their knowledge on Dongail’s drug links and his connection to so-called “ninja cops.”
Sebastian said Dongail ordered Filipino drug lords in Building 14 to purchase shabu from high-profile Chinese inmates so that he would know the location of their storage areas and relay the information to the ninja cops.
“Ang mga shabu na nasamsam o nakumpiska galing sa mga bodega ng mga Chinese drug lords ay kanilang paghati-hatian ang malaking porsiyento nito at muling ibenta sa publiko. Ito ang tunay na dahilan kung bakit lalong lumalaganap ang droga sa Pilipinas,” Sebastian said in his affidavit.
“Napag-alaman din namin nina Peter Co at Tony Co ang mga gawain ng mga ninja cops na mga galamay ni Clarence Dongail kaugnay sa raid na nangyari sa isang bodega ng shabu sa Meycauayan, Bulacan kung saan si Clarence Dongail ang napatrabaho nito gamit ang kanyang mga galamay na mga ninja cops at pagkatapos ng raid ay maliit lamang ang kanilang idineklara na makumpiskang shabu at malaking pursyento nito ay kanilang pinagparte-partehan,” he added.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre earlier said Dongail claimed that he was attacked by Tony Co after he accosted the latter and other Chinese inmates for using shabu inside their cell.
“Dahil sa aming nalalaman patungkol sa naturang raid, ito ay malinaw na dahilan kung bakit pinatay si Tony Co at sinaksak ako at si Peter Co ni Clarence Dongail at mga kasama nito upang patahimikin at hindi na makapagsalita tungkol dito,” Sebastian said.
Sebastian said it was because of Dongail’s alleged protectors in the police force that he wanted to personally talk to President Rodrigo Duterte to reveal what he knew.
“Ako ay nangangamba at natatakot dahil ang mga ‘protektor’ ni Clarence Dongail at ng mga galamay nito ay mga matataas na opisyales sa ating kapulisan na sa kasalukuyan at aktibong naninilbihan pa rin sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Duterte,” he added. JE/rga
