Ecija drug suspect killed by gunmen; 2 others arrested

QUEZON, Nueva Ecija, Philippines — Motorcycle-riding gunmen killed on Saturday a man who was on the police drug watch list in the province.

Felix Valerio, 51, was talking with a neighbor, Jay dela Cruz, when shot by assailants wearing helmets, said investigator PO3 Nickdeo Pastor.

Valerio died on the spot after the shooting in Barangay San Alejandro. De la Cruz was unhurt.

Also on Saturday, Toby John Gutierrez, 33, was arrested selling a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover policeman at 11:15 p.m. in DS Garcia village.

Earlier in Aliaga town, Ron Cordero, 39, was arrested for allegedly possessing a sachet of suspected shabu during a buy bust operation at 5:40 p.m. in Barangay Umangan.

PO2 Francis Tagudin said the recovered substance had been turned over to the Nueve Ecija police crime laboratory for testing. CBB/rga
