Hurt by accusations tagging her as a thief, a 15-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself inside her house in Lapu-Lapu City last Saturday morning.

Police said the girl was found by her aunt suspended from a beam with a nylon rope tied around her neck.

The aunt sought help from relatives, who untied the girl.  The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died a few minutes later.

Police said there were no signs of foul play in the girl’s death. They found a handwritten suicide note. The aunt confirmed to the police that it was the girl’s penmanship.

In the note, the girl said she could no longer bear being accused by her classmates as a thief. She said she was ridiculed by the accusations.

The girl also asked for forgiveness for committing suicide. She had been under the care of her aunt as her mother has been staying in Manila. The girl had not met her father until Saturday’s tragedy.
