BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—About P2.5 million-worth of illegally-cut narra (pterocarpus indicus) were found abandoned near the reservoir of a hydroelectric dam project in remote Alfonso Castañeda town, environment officials said on Tuesday (Sept. 20).

Marcelo Bumidang, community environment and natural resources officer, said he and his team of forest rangers found more than 300 pieces, or an estimated 5,000 board feet, of narra flitches on Saturday (Sept. 17) in Pelaway village, about a kilometer from the weirs of the Casecnan Multi-Purpose Irrigation and Power Project (CMIPP).

He said the team drove to the area following a text message from an informant.

The stacks of narra were scattered at several locations, hidden underneath road drainage tunnels and were covered with grass.
