At least 10 dead in Davao blast–Vice Mayor Duterte

DAVAO CITY — Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte said at least 10 people were killed when an explosion happened in the crowded night market on Roxas Avenue here Friday night.

The authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blast.

“Let us pray for the victims of this unfortunate incident, especially for those who died,” the vice mayor said in a statement.

“Let us pray for those who are being treated in different hospitals and pray for their quick recovery,” he added.

Duterte said at least 10 people died in the blast.

“Rest assured the authorities are on top of this incident,” he said.

“Right now, we cannot yet give definite answer to  as to who is behind this as we are also trying to determined what really exploded,” he added.

Hundreds of people go to the night market which features street food, massage and rows of ukay-ukay stalls.

The explosion happened some 100 meters away from the Ateneo de Davao University. TVJ
