Alleged drug pusher killed in Bohol town shootout

SIERRA-BULLONES, Bohol—A suspected drug pusher was shot dead by the police on Thursday after a brief chase in Sierra-Bullones town, Bohol.

The fatality was identified as Rico Balaba Busaco, 36, who was number 2 on the drug watchlist of the police here.

SPO2 Conrado Ayuban Butil, investigator of Sierra-Bullones police station, said policemen conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay (village) Villa Garcia here against Busaco around 8:20 a.m. on Thursday.

Busaco reportedly agreed to meet the poseur-buyer along the barangay road. Busaco was with an unidentified driver on the motorcycle.

After handing P500 worth of shabu, Busaco became suspicious, said Butil.

He allegedly pulled out his 9mm pistol and opened fire at the undercover police officers and sped away.

The policemen then chased him.

During the chase, Busaco shot at the police officers. About 500 meters away, the unidentified driver stopped and left Busaco who was shot by the police.

Busaco suffered two gunshot wounds in the neck and head. He was brought to Congressman Simeon G. Toribio District Hospital in Carmen town but he was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the suspect were 14 small sachets of suspected shabu, 9mm revolver with two magazines and 13 ammunition. RAM/rga
