ATM swindling suspect faces 6 counts of theft

MANILA, Philippine—An ATM swindler caught in Quezon City Tuesday is now facing six counts of theft, Cubao police said on Friday.

Joan Miquibes-Incabo, 27, of Block 17, Phase 1, Peter Street, Barangay Kaligayahan, Fairview, was caught after Lorna De Guzman-Gomez alerted security guards on seeing Incabo using an ATM machine in a mall in Cubao, said Senior Police Office 4 Rey Gatbonton.

She will also face charges for violation of Republic Act 9898, or the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998, Gatbonton said.

He said that along with eight ATM cards, bank receipts amounting to P1.87 million were recovered from Incabo.

Incabo’s modus is to talk to someone withdrawing money from an ATM, telling the would-be victim she is having difficulties with her transaction, confuses the victim and manages to get his/her PIN, then replaces her victims real ATM card with a fake one.

After getting away with the stolen card, she empties the bank account right away.

Incabo is now in the custody of Cubao police.
