Palace declares Nov 7 regular holiday

By

MANILA, Philippines –Malacañang has declared November 7 as a regular holiday in celebration of Eidul Adha, or the Islamic Feast of Sacrifice.

President Benigno Aquino III issued Proclamation No. 276, declaring that Eidul Adha, one of the two greatest feasts of Islam, as a regular holiday nationwide.

A declaration made by Saudi Arabia’s highest religious body set the festival on November 6 but the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommended that the observance be made on November 7 and the Eidul Adha prayer be held on November 6.

maging_makata, I think we need to realize that we have to start from or with something to make peace. The Islamized communities (now located in many parts of the country) needs recognition the same way as you needed it — and this is one step to peace building. I think as Christians (and Catholics) we need to understand fully why we were taught to pray the Lord’s prayer — “to forgive those who sin against us”! This makes us one with Islam (salam or peace).

Thanks for your comment Noel A… you have your point.. but quoting th Lord’s Prayer is not in the context of it..”to forgive those who sin against us” pertains to those who “sin” not wanting to kill the infidels, and any faith that is outside Islam are infidels..Maybe we can learn together what the Bible says about making “peace”.. Peace can’t not be attain in this world until the Lord”s return…:-)

I think we’re getting the worst of both worlds. Catholic presence in the country ensures that our population quadruples by the hour. Muslim presence in the country ensures that we get our fair share of terrorism.
