4 killed, 7 hurt in Quezon road accidents

LUCENA CITY – At least four people, including an infant and a two-year-old boy, died in two separate road accidents which also injured seven people in Quezon province on Thursday, according to police reports released Friday.

In Tayabas City, a pick up truck accidentally collided with an incoming passenger bus along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Calumpang at around 2:00 p.m.

Supt. Arturo Brual Jr. Tayabas police chief, said passenger Jomar Rosaldo Salimbao, 25, died while being taken to the hospital while Charles Andrew Salimbao Burce, 2, and Natashca Helbulario Mayce, 7 months, both died while undergoing treatment. Seven other passengers of the pick-up vehicle were confined in different hospitals in Lucena City, Sariaya and Tayabas City.

In Catanauan town in the Bondoc Peninsula district, a motorcycle back rider was killed after their vehicle collided head-on with an incoming van in Barangay Bolo at around 8:00 p.m. Quezon provincial police identified the victim as one Rufino Arpia, 53. He also died while on the way to a hospital due to head and body injuries. The five other passengers of the van were unhurt.
