August is National Language Month under Proclamation No. 1041 signed by President Ramos in 1997.

The celebration coincides with the birth month of the father of the Philippine National Language, the late President Manuel L. Quezon, who was born on Aug. 19, 1878. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
