LOOK: Very Pinoy ‘merienda’ buffet at Duterte’s first Sona

A very Filipino merienda buffet will be offered to 800 VIPs after the first State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to the list sent by the Office of Executive Director Edith Cardenas, who chairs the committee on reception and protocol, at least 800 guests are invited to buffet in the House of Representatives at 5 p.m. on July 25.

Duterte has vowed a simple lifestyle for government officials during his term.

Native chips: Salted duck egg dressing (on cocktail tables)

Monggo soup, smoked fish with alugbati (grissini bread)

Fresh lumpia ubod in pouch

Empanaditas (chicken and spicy tuna)
