DAVAO CITY–A son of an assassinated tribal leader is now fighting for his life after he and another companion were shot by still unidentified armed men here on Friday afternoon.

Jay Apiag, spokesman of Karapatan-Southern Mindanao, said that Datu Danny Diarog and Hermie Alegre were on their way home from a meeting with the National Commission on Indigenous People when they were attacked by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Sitio Kahusayan in Barangay Manuel Guianga in Tugbok district around 2 p.m.

Diarog is the Bagobo tribal chieftain of Sitio Kahusayan while Alegre is an officer of the Parents-Teachers Association of the Salugpungan Lumad school in the village.
