CLSU, La Filipina tie up for new swine research facility

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, is now the home of the country’s newest swine production and nutrition research facility.
Built as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between CLSU and Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation (PFMC), a member-firm of La Filipina Uy Gongco Group of Companies (LFUGC), the research facility seeks to uplift the Philippine animal science industry by pursuing research studies in swine production and nutrition.
Named La Filipina Swine Research Facility, the center will serve as a laboratory where PFMC can do trials while providing CLSU students an actual demonstration on the art and science of swine raising and nutrition.
A world-class manufacturer of animal feeds, PMFC is known in the feeds industry as the maker of local brands Excel Feeds, Amigo, Lechon for Swine, Poultry and Aquatic sector, IC+ and Iron Claw for gamefowl feeds. The company’s feedmills are located in Manila, Iloilo, Davao and soon in Isabela. Its mother company, La Filipina Uy Gongco Corporation, is the largest U.S. Soybean Meal importer in Southeast Asia, the main ingredient in livestock feeds.
CLSU is the lead agency of the Muñoz Science Community and seat of the Regional Research and Development Center in Central Luzon. The CLSU-College of Agriculture is the first agricultural college in the country accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).
To help the country’s agricultural industry, the College of Agriculture’s degree courses and programs are designed to focus on agricultural science and technology and management. It has been designated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as a Center of Excellence in Agricultural Education.
Since its creation, CLSU’s agricultural college has been tasked with the responsibility of providing quality education in agriculture and related sciences. Through its modern facilities and highly-trained faculty and staff, it has produced competent graduates ready to take on the challenges of a rapidly changing agricultural environment.
