Puppy addicted to heroin and meth rescued inside California motel room

A miniature dog is on his way to rehabilitation, after the Tustin Police Department in California recovered the abused pet under the influence of drugs, inside a raided motel room.
Citing a report by The Telegraph, the puppy named ‘Bubba’ was found to have various banned substances in his system—including heroin, methamphetamine and nicotine—following a drug bust sting by local officials last month.
The dog’s owner, 40-year-old Joshua West, was reportedly on parole for multiple drug violations, and was caught along with another unnamed suspect.
Upon his arrest, West was found in possession of heroin, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia, which police believe to have been forced upon the terrier mix puppy, as it appeared to be in a dazed and lethargic state.
Aside from drug possession charges, the perp will reportedly be indicted with animal cruelty, after Bubba’s drug test came back positive.
Meanwhile, one of the officers on the scene, Lieutenant Robert Wright, expressed his dismay towards the unfortunate incident.
“This strikes me as pretty horrible,” he was quoted in the report. “This is the first time we’ve ever heard of someone reporting that an animal has been under the influence.”
Despite the traumatic experience, officials claim that Bubba is on his way to recovery and will be placed up for adoption once his rehabilitation is complete.
“We are happy to report Bubba has been treated for his drug addiction and is doing excellent,” a police representative explained in the report.
“Bubba is still receiving medical care and once he is fully recovered, he will be placed with a rescue organization who can find him a forever home that can provide the proper care he will need in the future.” Khristian Ibarrola
