Gomez and Zamora were former allies. However, Zamora accused Gomez of dumping him and his father Rep. Ronaldo Zamora in favor of vice mayor-elect Janella Estrada and Jana Ejercito.

Meanwhile, the daughter of detained Senator Jinggoy Estrada, Janella, received 29, 939 votes. She crushed Totoy Bernardo who only got 20, 505 votes.

In the race for the House of Representatives, Rep. Zamora got 31, 172 votes to beat Jana Ejercito who garnered 22, 922 votes.

Since 1969, the Ejercito-Estrada clan has held the city’s mayoral post.
