Marcos: Security warning forced cancellation of Mindanao rally

DAVAO CITY — Vice presidential aspirant Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. revealed that a security warning compelled him to cancel his campaign rally in Panabo City, Davao del Norte on Friday.
“It’s not yet clear. I’ll just be very brief but there was a security warning against me. So just to be safe, we’re still checking it. ‘Pag negative baka pwede nang bumalik (If it’s negative, we might go back),” he told reporters on Friday night.
Marcos toured Cavite and Tacloban City and Panabo was supposed to be his final stop for his Luzon-Visayas-Mindanao one-day tour. Instead, he held a press briefing here.
The senator did not elaborate on the security threat: “Put it this way, we had the warning and we’ll check first what’s going on. There’s no need to take unnecessary risks,” he said.
Marcos, who has warned of possible cheating in the elections in favor of his closest rival, Camarines Sur representative Leni Robredo of the Liberal Party, urged in his final bid to voters to protect their ballots.
