Cops seize 27 guns from CamSur village chief’s home

LEGAZPI CITY—Police on Saturday seized at least 27 firearms during a raid on the house of a village chief in Iriga City, reports from the police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in the Bicol region said.

The suspect, Ariel Luceña, village chief of San Nicolas in Iriga, eluded arrest during the raid at 6 a.m., said Senior Supt. Marlon Tejada, CIDG regional director.

Tejada, in a telephone interview, said CIDG operatives were tracking down Luceña, a suspected leader of a 10-member armed group in the city.

Policemen recovered eight assault rifles and 19 handguns kept in Luceña’s house and car.
