MANILA — A 76-year-old woman died after at least two men believed to be robbers broke into her Calocan City home and pounded her head allegedly with a hammer early morning Monday.

Senior Superintendent Bartolome Bustamante, Caloocan City chief of police, said Lourdes Alicante-Tolore, a retired accountant and a resident of Phase 3D, Talilong Street, Kaunlaran Village, Barangay 31, died around 1 to 2 a.m. Monday, after suffering a deep lacerated wound on top of her head.

SPO3 Eduardo Tribiana, investigator, said Tolore was lying on her back when discovered by her 17-year-old grandson. Her head was pounded with a sharp object, her hands were tied with a nylon cord, and her face was covered with a pillow.

FEATURED STORIES

Tolore was living with her two grandchildren when she was killed, the investigator said.

Recovered from the crime scene were a hammer and screw driver, which were allegedly used against her by at least two robbers.

Tribiana said the lock of the victim’s cabinet was destroyed, with some of her things left in disarray.

Investigators continue to dig for clues to identify the killers, confirm if indeed robbery was the motive for the attack and determine the valuables taken from the victim’s home.  SFM
