A German Shepherd dog became a hero after he aided the firefighters in locating his owner’s two young kids in a fire that ravaged their family home in Orlando, Florida.

Maxx, the family’s beloved pet , escorted the firefighters through thick flames to rescue a four-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl in their home on Monday, according to US news site NBC Miami. Neighbors phoned 911 after the fire ignited in the residence of Margo Feaser, an auto theft investigator, and military veteran.

The injured family members were brought to the hospital for treatment. Maxx was separately treated for smoke inhalation.

GoFundMe, an online funding site, collected $11,000 (514,000 PHP) to pay for Maxx and the Feaser family’s medical and veterinarian treatment. Gianna Francesca Catolico
