De Lima slumps, Gatchalian surges in new Pulse Asia-ABS-CBN poll

Seven candidates from the administration-led Koalisyong Daang Matuwid are among the 13 hopefuls that have a statistical chance to cop a spot in the Magic 12, the results of the latest ABS-CBN survey revealed.

The poll, which was conducted by Pulse Asia, showed that the seven administration candidates are: survey frontrunner Senate President Franklin Drilon in 1st to 2nd places with 51.6 percent, former Agriculture Modernization secretary Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan in 2nd to 3rd places with 46.8 percent, former senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson with 38.9 percent in 4th to 5th places, former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) chief Joel Villanueva in 6th to 11th places with 35.6 percent, reelectionist Senator Ralph Recto in 6th to 11th places with 35.6 percent, former Philhealth director Risa Hontiveros in 6th to 13th places with 33.7 percent, and former Justice Secretary Leila de Lima in 9th to 13th places with 31.5 percent.

De Lima dropped to the 9th to 13th places from the 5th to 9th places in the previous survey conducted from March 29 to April 3 where she got 36.5 percent.

Valenzuela City Representative Sherwin Gatchalian, who belongs to the ticket of Senator Grace Poe, was also among the 13 bets who have a statistical chance to enter the Magic 12. He is tied with de Lima in the 9th to 13th places with 31.5 percent.

During the March 29 to April 3 survey, Gatchalian was in the 13th to 15th places with 27.5 percent.

Other candidates who have a shot in securing a spot in the Magic 12 are: Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III (1st to 3rd places with 49.8 percent), former senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri (4th to 6th places with 38.9 percent), Filipino boxing icon and Sarangani representative Manny Pacquiao (5th to 11th places with 36.3 percent), reelectionist Senator Sergio “Serge” Osmena III (6th to 13th places with 34.2 percent), and former senator Richard “Dick” Gordon (6th to 13th places with 33.8 percent).

The survey had 4,000 registered voters as respondents and an error margin of plus minus 1.5 percent at 95 percent confidence level. IDL
