Bilibid yields sex toys, mobile phones, bullets in 28th ‘Galugad’
NEW Bilibid Prison (NBP) authorities seized sex toys, mobile phones and ammunition in their 28th “Oplan Galugad.”
Oplan Galugad is the weekly raid conducted by prison authorities to rid the national penitentiary of contrabands and illegal activities.
But NBP Superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf Jr. said they also conduct surprise inspections.
During Wednesday’s raid, authorities confiscated six cellular phones, three bladed weapons and several appliances inside the minimum security compound. This is the first time authorities conducted a raid in the compound which houses inmates with less than two years left in their prison sentence.
At the maximum security compound, Bureau of Correction personnel recovered four cellular phones, two airsoft guns, 15 bladed weapons, 60 rounds of ammunition for .38 caliber revolver and .45 and 9mm pistols.
Schwarzkopf said his men recovered the airsoft guns behind a staircase inside Building 2-A, Quadrant 4.
The BuCor personnel also recovered a locked vault in one of the rooms in the same building. When it was opened, the vault yielded sex toys.
Though he did not identify the inmates who owned the seized contraband items pending the completion of their investigation, the NBP official said they would file criminal charges against them as well as administrative complaints against any jail personnel found to be in collusion with the prisoners.
