Easterlies bring isolated rains to Metro Manila, nearby provinces
The easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific caused the isolated rains in Metro Manila on Friday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.
Lorie dela Cruz, weather forecaster from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said by phone that the rains are possible despite the dry season.
She explained that the winds from the Pacific blew moisture up to Sierra Madre which caused the rains.
Light to moderate rains fell in Metro Manila, parts of Bulacan, Rizal and Laguna in the morning.
At around 2 p.m., Pagasa issued a thunderstorm advisory in Quezon City and in Marilao and Meycauyan, Bulacan.
The ridge of a high pressure area is extended over Northern Luzon for Friday evening to early Saturday, Pagasa’s weather bulletin said.
Easterlies are affecting the eastern section of Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail throughout the country with isolated rains or thunderstorms mostly over the eastern section, Pagasa said. RAM
