Cops get 1st tranche of pay, bonus hikes
MANILA — Police personnel who are at the frontline of securing Holy Week travellers received some consolation on Wednesday in the form of three months’ worth of retroactive additional pay and benefits.
In a statement, Director Danilo S. Pelisco, the Philippine National Police (PNP) comptrollership chief, announced that the increase differentials for January, February and March, granted under President Aquino’s Executive Order 201, were released March 23, through the ATM payroll accounts.
Executive Order 201, issued by President Aquino last February 19, orders the implementation of a Modified Salary Schedule for civilian personnel and additional benefits to military and uniformed personnel over a four-year period starting 2016 until 2019.
The country’s 160,000-strong police force will receive in April the first tranche of the additional benefits package which includes the monthly Provisional Allowance for Military and Uniformed Personnel, increased hazard pay, and the Officers’ Allowance.
The first tranche of the monthly provisional allowance for uniformed police personnel ranges from P342 for Police Officers 1 to P2,651 for Senior Police Officers IV; and P4,092 for police inspectors to P9,708 for police chief superintendents.
The hazard pay of uniformed forces will be increased this year to P390, from the current monthly rate of P240, with subsequent annual increases reaching P840 in 2019.
Meanwhile, police commissioned officers, or those with the rank of police senior superintendent to police director general, will start receiving a monthly officers’ allowance ranging from P1,000 to P9,000, for the first tranche.
PNP non-uniformed personnel (NUP) will receive the first tranche of the Modified Salary Schedule in April, but they will already receive the corresponding salary increase differential also starting March 23. SFM
