‘Bully’ gunned down in Navotas

A TRICYCLE driver who had threatened to kill a man died before he could make good on his threat.

Jimmy Delgado, 41, was shot dead on Monday afternoon on Bulungan Avenue, Navotas Fishport Complex, by Marlon Ornopia, 22, a stevedore residing at R10 in North Bay Boulevard South.

Investigator SPO1 Ernesto Ravanera Jr. of the Navotas police said that Delgado was walking when Ornopia shot him three times. When captured, Ornopia yielded a .40-caliber firearm. Ravanera said that Ornopia may have killed Delgado because the victim reportedly constantly bullied him because of his height.

Ornopia stands at around 4’ 8”. However, Senior Supt. Genesis Tolejano of the Philippine National Police Maritime Unit at the Navotas Fishport Complex said they were looking at the possibility that Ornopia had been hired to kill the victim for P12,000. He was also found to have a pending arrest warrant for robbery, Tolejano added.

An investigator said that two days before Delgado was killed, he had a fight with another man whose motorcycle he had hit with his tricycle. Delgado reportedly pointed a gun at the other man and threatened to kill him. Jodee A. Agoncillo
