“A period of cleaning up,” was how Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano described his 100 days in office if elected vice president in the May national elections.

But he asserted that this would happen if he and his tandem Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte would both win the elections.

“Kasi, let’s say kung Binay-Cayetano, hindi ko alam kung saan ang first 100 days ko?” Cayetano said drawing laughter from the crowd in a forum organized by the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

During the “AKTIBOTO” event at UST, Cayetano was asked how he would describe his first 100 days in office if he wins the vice presidency.

“It would be a period of cleaning up. We want you to feel safe and safer,” the senator said.

He reiterated their promise to end drugs and criminality in the first six months in office.

“The biggest impact will really be on drugs,” he said, adding that they want the people to “immediately feel the difference” in terms of peace and order.

The senator also warned erring government officials to shape up or else he and Duterte would “show them the door.

“Mayor Duterte does not have the patience for excuses,” he said, adding that the present government was plagued with excuses.

The senator cited the many irregularities in government, including the delay in the issuance of car plates, the slow processing of documents and the emergence of fixers in public agencies.

He said they would also start moving one or two departments away from Metro Manila, citing the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) could be placed in Clark, Pampanga.

Cayetano also said that he would make sure that the government’s budget would reach the grass roots level and not just in Metro Manila.

This is part of the Duterte-Cayetano’s platform to equally distribute funds in the country and deviate from the “NCR-centric” governance.

“We will spark the next 100 days with reform that you will wake up in a year feeling safer with a different government,” he said.

He added, “There would be more hope in the second year, more change in the third year and after the six years, we have a different Philippines that will turn over to you.”
