(Updated) Someone is playing a funny joke about this, Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said when heard about a one-page document of an alleged DNA test result sent to Senate reporters Monday, which supposedly showed that he and Senator Grace Poe are “related.”

The document dated November 12, 2015 and with a letterhead DNA Solutions Philippines was addressed to Marcos.

“This is Senator Bongbong Marcos’ DNA result. Compare this with that of Senator Grace Poe and you will see that they are related,” a note said in a small piece of paper attached on top of the document.

But the document itself contains a paragraph, which says: “DNA isolation was carried. Genetic characteristics were determined by PowerPlex 21 PCR Kit. In parallel, positive and negative controls were performed which gave the expected and corrected results.”

The document was supposedly signed by a certain Julie Ludovico, Forensic Scientist 1.

“I laughed when I heard about it,” Marcos said. “I’ve never had a DNA test.”

Sought for comment, Poe said the authenticity of the document should be verified first by Marcos himself.

“Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa pagmamabuting loob ng ibang tao sa pagtulong sa aking paghahanap sa mga tunay kong kaanak sa dugo,” she said in a text message.

“Bago pa man ako magkomento kung dapat ikonsidera ang paghahambing, alamin din nila mismo kay Senator Marcos ang authenticity ng pribadong bagay na ito,” she added.

Found in a church in Iloilo, Poe was later adopted by the late actor, Fernando Poe Jr., and veteran actress, Susan Roces. Her being a foundling is now one of the subjects of the disqualification cases filed against her.

It has been long rumored that Poe was an illegitimate child of Marco’s father and namesake, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, with former actress Rosemarie Sonora. The two senators just laughed off the rumor and even joked about their being siblings.
