Ivler’s cell phone seized in latest ‘Galugad’; swimming pool also found inside NBP

AUTHORITIES from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) has demolished a “kubol” (inmate quarters) where a swimming pool and lounge were found during its 13th “Oplan Galugad” (search).

During the raid which was conducted inside NBP’s Medium Security Prison, authorities also found a mobile phone from Jason Ivler, nephew of folk singer Freddie Aguilar.

Ivler has been transferred to NBP after he was convicted by Branch 84 of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court for the murder of Renato Ebarle Jr. in a road rage incident in 2009.

Ebarle is the son of former Presidential Chief of Staff Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr.

Authorities also seized 11 sachets of shabu and other drug paraphernalia, 27 pieces of mobile phones, chargers, tablets, 6 pieces of pocket wifis, LPG tank, hacksaw, portable Sony Playstation, Magic Sing, Signal Booster, laptop, DVD players, Television, TV digital receiver , cable TV router, six cans of San Miguel Pale Pilsen and 22 cans of SanMig Light.

Also seized was P387,760.00 worth of cash, a gold bracelet and a gold necklace.

NBP Superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf Jr. earlier said they are putting in additional security measures at the NBP such as the installation of additional X-rays, metal detectors and close circuit television cameras to deter illegal activities inside the sprawling national penitentiary which houses more than 22, 000 inmates, of which 15, 000 are in the maximum security compound.
