The National Power Corporation (Napocor) issued an advisory on Monday saying that it would release “minimum” amount of water from Angat Dam on Tuesday, January 5.

Napocor said that it would release water starting 8 a.m. from the dam in anticipation of the monsoon and easterly rains which will be dumped on Tuesday, according to the weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“The Angat Dam will open 0.5 meters in Gate 2 or an estimate of 70 cubic meters per second (cms) of water,” the advisory read.

Napocor said that the release will be hardly felt in towns along the Angat River and will not “cause flooding in nearby areas.” But it added that while the water release won’t cause flooding, the public is urged to take necessary precautions.
