Duterte ‘glad’ of Comelec acceptance of his COC – legal counsel

The camp of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte welcomed the 6-1 ruling of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to validate his certificate of candidacy (COC) and declare him an official candidate for president, according to his lawyer Vitaliano Aguirre.

Aguirre said Duterte had been informed of the Comelec decision and he expected no less.

“He has been informed and he is glad of the outcome. He was expecting it because he knew his COC was completely in order,” Vitaliano told the Inquirer.

“It shows that the en banc, except for one, appreciated the validity of the COC of Mayor Duterte, that it had no defect, no false representation and was completely in order,” Aguirre told the Inquirer in a telephone interview.
