Tropical Depression ‘Ramon’ threatens Visayas, Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines—Tropical Depression “Ramon” increases its threat to eastern Visayas and northeastern Mindanao as it moves in a west northwest direction at 17 kilometers per hour, the state-run weather bureau said early Tuesday.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that as of 4 a.m., the center of Ramon was estimated at 360 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
It was sustaining maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, Pagasa said.
Signal No. 1 has been raised over Eastern Samar, Western Samar, Leyte Provinces, Bohol, Biliran, Camotes Island, Surigao Del Norte including Siargao Island, Surigao Del Sur, Agusan Del Norte, Agusan Del Sur, the Dinagat Group of Islands, and Camiguin Island.
Eastern Visayas and northeastern Mindanao will have rains with gusty winds and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough, the weather bureau said.
The Bicol region, rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy over central Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and lansdlides, Pagasa said.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, Pagasa added.
The weather bureau said that Ramon was expected to be at 100 km northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur by Wednesday morning and at 90 km north of Cebu City by Thursday morning.
By Friday morning, it will be at 70 km north of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, it added.
