‘Lando’ weakens further; continues to threaten Cordillera
Typhoon “Lando” (international name: Koppu) has weakened further as it reached Nueva Ecija province, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.
However, although it has weakened with winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 185 kph, it will continue to threaten Cordillera Region.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 10:00 a.m., Lando’s eye was located in the vicinity of Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija.
It is expected to move west northwest at 5 kph.
The estimated rainfall amount of Lando is from heavy to intense within its 500-kilometer diameter, smaller from its previous 600-km diameter.
Despite the slower movement of the typhoon, Dr. Esperanza Cayanan of Pagasa said sea travel is still not safe in the affected areas.
“All coastal areas in Northern Luzon, delikado pa rin sa mga sasakyang pandagat (sea vehicles are still dangerous),” said Cayanan.
Fisherfolk in Visayas and northern and eastern Mindanao were also advised not to venture out over the seaboards of the said provinces.
“Kahit umaliwalas na po ang panahon, mag-ingat pa rin po tayo,” she added.

Public storm warning signal in Aurora was lowered to Signal No. 3, as well as in Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Benguet, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Kalinga, La Union and Pangasinan.
Signal No. 2 was still up in Metro Manila, Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Isabela, Abra, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, and Northern Quezon including Polillo Islands.
Meanwhile, Signal No. 1 is raised over Batanes, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and rest of Quezon. RAM
